The “Stitch Squad” (Not Quite the Great Bookham Sewing Bee)

Is your sewing machine languishing in a cupboard, ready for action at a moments notice or perhaps you don’t have one? Would you like to brush up your sewing skills, and or learn new techniques or you just want to start with the basics? We are the group for you.

We welcome all levels of skills from beginner to experienced. We will share skills and knowledge, learn together, exchange ideas, and make garments that fit by helping each other. After all we all want to make the best of whatever we are doing from making a ball gown to turning up a hem, altering the fit of some trousers or making our grandchildren Halloween outfits. We will share skills and knowledge, learn together, exchange ideas, help each other and and make garments that fit.

Our first meeting will be on the 4th Tuesday of September, when we will be have a major measuring session. Learning to take measurements accurately, and what to measure, are essential skills to have in our sawing toolbox.

Thereafter we will meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month

We also plan to have occasional visits to fabric and haberdashery shops and to visits exhibitions that might be of interest.
